CJR Fine Art & Frames Host The Highwaymen
CJR Fine Arts & Frame Will Host the Historic Florida Highwaymen on February 10th & 11th, with a Special Appearance by Several of the Original Highwaymen and Historic AJ Brown.
The Highwaymen are a group of African American artists who, against all odds, became successful selling landscape paintings in Florida when Jim Crow laws prohibited most blacks from realizing their dreams. Shunned by local art galleries, the artists traveled along highways throughout Florida selling their paintings from the trunks of their cars or by going door-to-door in white neighborhoods and businesses.
A beautiful example of art transcending time is found in the story of the Florida Highwaymen Historic Artist A J Brown, History Lives On! Historic President Barack Obama and Former 1st Lady add two of Brown’s paintings to their personal collection.
Collect treasured ocean breezes, windy palms and dreamy sunsets celebrated since 1950’ 60’ 70’s, valued from hundreds to thousands of dollars, Highwaymen Art Lives on, in homes and offices of Presidents, Governors, Museums and Collectors throughout the world.
